Bio Art
Bio art is art made with living things, the projects i have done in bio art are blind boxes with mushroom sculptures and a healing piece from the negative aftermath a surgery had on me.
Kinoko Yaki
Kinoko Yaki is my most recent bio art project. The project fabrication are Blind boxes made from recycled cardboard. The "figurines" that were packaged within are made from mushroom substrate. I grew the mushrooms at the SVA Biolab, they took several weeks to grow. I had placed the mushrooms in clay molds that i had to make negative space for and see how the objects would turn out. The sculptures have been donated to the Biolab staff and peers.
Creating this project was meant to discuss the wasteful nature of how blind boxes are fun but are gambling and produce a lot of waste.
